Welcome to the Company of Dramatic Arts (CODA), a bold and passionate music theatre company based in Sydney’s Inner West.
At CODA, we believe the stage is more than just a place to perform. It’s where stories breathe, emotions run deep, and people come alive. Theatre has a way of transforming us - whether we’re onstage, backstage, or in the audience - and that magic is at the heart of everything we do.
CODA was founded by Kris Sergi, a lifelong theatre kid whose love for the stage started early and never let go. For Kris, theatre has always been more than a hobby; it’s a way to connect, to grow, and to turn everyday life into something extraordinary. That same love is what drives our company forward today.
Our classes and productions are open to teens and adults who are just as passionate about musical theatre as we are. Led by experienced industry professionals, our programs are designed not only to build skills and stagecraft, but also to spark confidence, creativity, and connection.
Because here at CODA, we’re not just making theatre. We’re building a community.

At the Company of Dramatic Arts (CODA), we believe theatre should be for everyone. Our vision is to make the magic of musical theatre accessible, exciting, and deeply meaningful - not just for performers, but for audiences, creatives, and our wider community.
We’re not here to replicate what already exists. CODA is about creating something fresh. A space where emerging and experienced artists can take risks, experiment, and collaborate in ways that challenge expectations and celebrate individuality. We value bold choices, curious minds, and the power of a shared creative process.
Our home in Sydney’s Inner West is more than a backdrop - it’s a lively, ever-evolving community that inspires everything we do. We are committed to building sustainable, artist-first programs that prioritise wellbeing, fairness, and long-term growth. Whether someone joins us for one production or many, we want them to feel seen, supported, and creatively fulfilled.
CODA also recognises the importance of play. Joy is central to our work. Rehearsal rooms should feel energising, not exhausting. Performances should leave you buzzing, not burnt out. We want to foster spaces that feel safe enough to take creative risks, to be silly and serious in equal measure, and to fall in love with the craft all over again.
At CODA, we also acknowledge the deep cultural significance of the land we perform on. For thousands of years, these lands have been a stage for stories that connect people and communities. We honor the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of this land and recognize their ongoing contributions to the cultural landscape. Through our work, we commit to fostering an environment that celebrates and respects the diverse histories and perspectives that shape our society.
